Today, Ulunma Izejiobi has been unveiled as the latest winner of the 8th 7UP Harvard Business School Scholarship, an Initiative of 7Up Bottling Company Plc which was started in the year 2010. She will be adding a Harvard education to a list of achievements which include founding an NGO focused on helping distressed women.
Ulunma Izejiobe joins the ranks of Misan Rewane, Olujimi Williams, Mayowa Kuyoro, Oluwasola Olaniyan, Bankole Makanjuola, Chidozie Ibekwe, and all former recipients of the 7UP HBSS Award who have gone on to make their marks in their chosen fields.
Accompanied by her family and well-wishers, including her colleagues at African Capital Alliance, Ulunma Izejiobi was all smiles as she accepted the scholarship cheque infront of guests and thanked sponsor beverage company – 7UP Nigeria for making her dreams a reality.
The first recipient of the 7UP HBSS award, Misan Rewane, shared her experience as a recipient of the award at the event. She spoke of how the scholarship empowered her to achieve her dream of impacting the lives of youths through her organization, West Africa Vocational Education (WAVE). She said this Scholarship helped her enjoy the benefits of good education without any strings attached and the NGO she currently runs, has graduated over 2500 participants!
Also, Ahmed Alimi, last year’s winner of the 7UP Harvard Business School Scholarship urged the attendees present at the event to follow their passions and continue developing themselves with the knowledge and skills needed to achieve their dream. “Whatever gift you have, make sure you leverage it to the fullest and use it to the benefit of your community” he said.
Born into a family of 20 children, Ahmed Alimi from Bariga before winning the scholarship started the Bariga Youth Outreach helping youths to get mentored. He says we all have gifts individually. Winning the Scholarship made me realise you have to prepare yourself before your opportunity comes.
Also speaking at the unveiling event, the Senior Brand Manager Seven Up Bottling Company, Mr Segun Ogunleye stated that the essence of the 7UP Harvard Business School Scholarship is to train leaders with a global perspective who will in turn come back to impact the society and also further create more leaders.
