The 2018 edition of the Lagos city marathon is upon us, the marathon is ranked No.2 on the continent behind the Cape Town Marathon and is set to witness several innovations. One of which is the upgrade of prize monies from N1million that was won in the first two editions of the race, to N3million, for the top Nigerian finishers (Male and Female) in the 42km race. Winners of the Wheelchair race will cart home N1million each (Male and female) and to the grand prize of $50,000 for the first place (Male and female).
7up is the official beverage of the Lagos City Marathon and with the official hashtag on social media being #RunDiff, this means 7up is making this year’s marathon about you, what you care about, however you want to run and for whatever reason you are running the marathon. This is cool because it’s brings the fun into the marathon.
Another new development is the introduction of a 10km non-professional Family Race put in place to encourage Nigerian participants to run for fun and healthy living, with winners in this category going home with brand new cars.
This year’s Marathon taking place on the February 10, 2018 will witness the participation of thousands of professionals and amateurs with over a hundred elite athletes from every corner of the globe pounding the streets of Lagos, showcasing your city, my city, our Lagos. This marathon will host ‘You’ with your uniqueness.
